What RapidAPI actually is
RapidAPI is an API marketplace. Each API is operated by a separate vendor — reliability, schema, and pricing vary vendor to vendor. The Facebook Scraper API that became SocialAPIs.io lives there at rapidapi.com/oussemaf/api/facebook-scraper-api4.
Pricing reality
RapidAPI charges the consumer on two meters. Both can sting.
- Per-request quotas + overage fees. Cross a tier and overage rates kick in, often well above the larger tier's marginal rate. There are public reports of bills jumping from $149 to $2,847 on a traffic spike.
- Bandwidth Platform Fee (since December 2025) — 10 GB / billing cycle free, then $1 per additional GB, charged to the consumer. Social responses are data-heavy, so this becomes a second meter on top of request count.
Where the complexity bites
- •Quality on the marketplace varies. Plenty of social scrapers haven't been updated in years.
- •You're a tenant on someone else's platform — rate limits, billing delays, dashboard lag are out of your hands.
- •The bandwidth fee added in late 2025 made data-heavy social responses meaningfully more expensive.
